Going Green and Giving Back
During the year, Rudy &Kelly Hairstylist focuses on Going Green and Giving Back. Our Going Green deeds include recycling all foils from highlight services and collecting hair clippings. Isaiah’s Bread founded by Heather Street collects the foils, aluminum cans and color tubes from our main office and the proceeds of the recycling benefit local food Pantries. The salons also collect hair clippings and the main office sends the clippings to Matter of Trust to be used in making hair mats for oil spills around the world.
Rudy & Kelly has also been giving back in a number of ways. At different times throughout the year, all five of our local salons collect canned goods to benefit the Virginia Food Bank and encourage clients to bring in items at each appointment. In addition, Rudy & Kelly has always supported the organization, Locks of Love, by sending in hair donations of 10-inches or more for disadvantaged children that have lost their hair due to medical reasons.
In 2010, Rudy & Kelly Hairstylist formed the team “Shear Determination” who participated in the ACS Making Strides walk and its fundraising efforts for breast cancer education and research.
Rudy & Kelly not only cares about your hair, but cares about Going Green and Giving Back to our community.
In 2009 and 2010, R&K salons participated in the Pink Heals Tour. During this wonderful event, staff from all 5 of our salon, donate their time to do haircuts and put in PINK extensions for donations, which are then donated to the Tidewater Chapter of Komen and the Making Strides campaign with ACS. We look forward to participating in this event again in the Fall of 2011.
